BEHIND THE DESIGN

Duotone team rider Edgar Ulrich helped test the 2027 Evo D/LAB. Here is what changed, and how it feels on the water.

A stiffer frame that still turns fast

The new Aluula D/TX frame is stiffer along the length of the kite, so it holds its shape when a gust hits. It stays flexible in torsion, which gives faster, smoother turns across the whole size range.

Flies further forward in the window

The stiffer frame let designer Manu try new profiles, and the kite now sits further forward in the window. That means more depower when it is nuking, more speed and power through the window when it is light, and better upwind.

Vertical lift and loops that catch you

On jumps the kite comes overhead and lifts you vertically. Loops are smoother and hold their speed, and the kite catches you consistently on the way out, which builds confidence for new tricks.

The same bar feel in every size

Every size is tuned to feel the same on the bar, so stepping up from a 9 to a 12 does not bring heavier bar pressure. The small sizes are stable and predictable rather than aggressive, and the big sizes are light to fly and pull forward, a real plus on long foil sessions.
