In the past, everyone had to decide if they wanted an Efoil with lots of range and power OR an E-assist, which provides lightweight performance, versatility, and adaptability. They each have their advantages, but what if you are somewhere in the middle? Straddling that grey line of indecision when you could be out foiling until your cheeks hurt. Thankfully, the Fusion fits perfectly in that middle space. Giving Efoil level range & power without the heavy gear and limited adaptability. The Foil Drive Fusion turns any foilboard into an Efoil suitable for new riders to pros. This, with only a subtle increase in total weight & volume.
In addition to providing that ideal Hybrid E-foil/assist experience, the Fusion system also improves other notable aspects of the user experience. The new remote offers a geared speed selection option, which is ideal for honing in on your perfect riding speeds without jumpy response or sore trigger fingers. It’s also the key to making learning easy for family and friends. For more experienced riders, the new boost button is also added for quick power when you need it.
The display is now brighter and easier to see. Especially in bright sunlight. The removable trigger guard feature prevents accidental throttling for more beginner friendliness. Foil Drive has also found ways to improve the durability of the remote for longer life and fewer services required. The new remote also functions with all Foil Drive systems, so you can upgrade your existing system as well.
Foil Drivers have long been asking for an improved smart charging system, and it’s delivered with the Fusion E-assist. The battery itself is simplified with more power and an integrated nose cone. The smart charger locks to the battery and delivers power level readout, quick charging/ discharging with storage mode, thermal management system, as well as functionality with Max and Sport batteries. An additional upgrade which is included with Fusion assist is the M7 titanium Split bolts, which work will all foil types and make assembly easier. Thankfully, the Fusion unit is equipped with a sacrificial anode, which reduces corrosion even further! There is also a nifty battery Caddy with a handle to protect the battery terminal and make carrying super comfortable. Similarly, they include a unit handle which has a tool/parts caddy sliding into the battery compartment when not in use.

Foil Drive Fusion: The Most Powerful Gen 2.5 Foil Assist, and It Just Got Stronger
The Foil Drive Fusion was the first unit built on Foil Drive’s Gen 2.5 platform. It was designed for riders who want the most power and the longest sessions possible from a foil assist. It can do the job of a lightweight assist or a full e-foil, which makes it one of the most versatile drives on the water. With the launch of the MAX+ and the new FM+ battery range, the Fusion gets even better: more power through a free app update, and more battery options than ever.
A free power upgrade for every Fusion
When Foil Drive developed the MAX+, they gave it the full power the Fusion originally shipped with. To keep the Fusion at the top of the range, existing Fusion owners get a free app update that unlocks an even higher power level and more boost. Connect your Fusion to the app and turn it up. You don’t have to use the extra power, but it’s there when you need it: for a heavier rider, a bigger board, flat water, or a quick takeoff in a crowded launch.
Why can the Fusion handle more power than the MAX+? It comes down to its longer chassis and a different heat-sink layout underneath, which let it shed more heat and sustain higher output. The Fusion will always be the unit with the most thrust in the Foil Drive lineup.
The Fusion 860: the biggest battery Foil Drive makes
The Fusion 860 is the largest and most powerful battery in the range, and it fits only the Fusion. It comes with a battery caddy for easy handling on the beach. The 860 is what lets the Fusion cross over from foil assist into e-foil territory. That’s the choice for long self-powered sessions, cruising a lake with no wind, or handing the board to friends and family for back-to-back rides.
New: FM+ crossover batteries now fit the Fusion
The new FM+ batteries (the name stands for Fusion / MAX+) were built to work across both Gen 2.5 units:
- FM+ 650: 43V, available now.
- FM+ 430: a smaller, lighter 43V option, coming soon.
An FM+ battery adapter clicks onto the front of either battery and extends it to fit the Fusion’s longer bay. New Fusion kits include the adapter. If you bought your Fusion before the FM+ batteries existed, the adapter is available on its own. Why run a smaller battery in a Fusion? Less weight when you want a lighter, more lively feel. A cheaper spare to extend a long day. And one set of batteries you can share with a MAX+.
Built to last
Like every Gen 2.5 product, the Fusion uses a one-piece battery with a tough plastic exoskeleton, the upgraded Gen 2.5 power system and an IMU tilt sensor that can shut the motor off automatically when the board rolls past a set angle. It runs on M7 titanium split bolts and uses the same chargers and app as the MAX+. If you own both, all the running gear is shared.
Fusion or MAX+?
Choose the Fusion if your priority is ride time, power and hours on the water, or if you want one board that works for everyone: a foil-assist session on the weekend and an e-foil toy for the whole family at the lake house the next. Riders who push hard in waves or on downwinders may prefer the shorter, lighter-feeling MAX+. For pure range and thrust, the Fusion is what it was built for.

Is the Fusion power upgrade really free?
Yes. Existing Fusion owners unlock the extra power and boost through a free app update. No new hardware is needed.
Can the Fusion 860 battery go in the MAX+?
No. The 860 is exclusive to the Fusion. The FM+ 650 and FM+ 430 are the batteries that work in both units.
Do I need an adapter to run FM+ batteries in my Fusion?
Yes. The FM+ adapter extends the battery to fit the Fusion. It’s included with new Fusion kits and sold separately for existing owners.
Can the Fusion be used as an e-foil?
Yes. With the 860 battery, the Fusion is designed to cross over between foil assist and e-foiling.
What’s the difference between the Fusion and the MAX+?
Both use Gen 2.5 electronics, the same chargers, the same app and the same bolts. The Fusion has a longer chassis, the most power and the exclusive 860 battery. The MAX+ is more compact and lighter-feeling, and costs less.
