Our focus throughout the development of the Odyssey, our downwind board, was to design a versatile board that is quick to paddle up and nimble on foil in both short-period and long-period swell.
The main challenge was creating a bottom shape that is easy to rock and pump onto foil, while maintaining a low planing speed. We achieved this with two main design features, the Tri Plane Bottom and the Hybrid Rocker Line.
The Hybrid Rocker features a steeper entry rocker to fit into short, stacked bumps. Under the front foot through the back of the tracks, the rocker is flatter to keep the board accelerating. A slight tail lift behind the boxes adds clearance and helps the board accelerate when dropping into swell.
The Tri Plane Bottom uses three planes running from nose to tail. In the front third of the board, the two side planes feature concave that runs into a hard lower rail, while the center has a slight convex hull. This improves maneuverability while paddling and helps water separate when bouncing the board onto foil. In the middle section, the side planes transition from concave to straight chamfers and the center plane flattens, which helps the board keep accelerating until the foil engages. In the back third, the lower rail lifts, the center plane gets smaller, and the side planes pull the tail into a V. This supports smooth pumping and helps prevent unwanted tail engagement when the foil starts to fly.
These features, combined with a narrow outline and even volume distribution, create a stable board that accelerates quickly and makes progression easier. Development was finalized with Andrew Gibbons to ensure the Odyssey is ready for a wide range of conditions, from a weekend cruise to top-level racing like the M20 World Championship.

More rocker in the front and tail, with a flatter section through the standing area and tracks. You fit into tight bumps, keep speed building, and drop in with more control across short and long period swell.
Hard Edge Displacement Hull
The nose features a convex displacement hull that flows into a concave sharp lower rail allowing for easy redirection on the water and quick release.
16” Foil Tracks
Long track range to fine-tune foil position for different foils and conditions. You can balance the setup for stability, speed, or easier lift-off.

Yes, we have shipped to these locations for decades by quote. Please share your address, the item(s) you needed shipped, and if an airport cargo depot pickup is possible.
Canada and International Locations?
We ship to Canada lots, and the Caribbean some. Get a quote. We rarely ship items to Europe, Asia, and Australia as it's spendy. Quotes for international orders do not include import duties.
How Can I Be Sure My Board Arrives Intact?

What if My Board Arrives Damaged?
We'll work with our shipping partner to get you a repair credit or a replacement board. Please send photos of the damaged board (and box) to shipping@bigwinds.com.

But no foot straps, fins, or vent plug?
Look closely through the packaging. Fins, foot straps and vent plugs are often concealed in a sheath of cardboard that's easy to discard. Also, check inside the board box, and shake the box to be sure. You'll likely dislodge a small box containing the missing items.

We'll work with freight partners for the lowest possible rate. Delivery time is 7-10 business days. Quotes typically land in the $350 - $500 range, though Big Winds will often cover a portion of this fee. Get a quote.
International Board Delivery
Board shipping rates for most international destinations are extremely pricey. But we can ship boards to Canada for as low as $275 plus duties and taxes. We can also stow your board for an upcoming Gorge visit, and help with a board bag and packing materials to ensure it flies home with you safely.
