Hey check it out. One of our best selling entry level foils is back in stock.
What makes the Takuma Kujira 1500 foil package so ideal for the entry level foiler?
Well, if you’re a winger, and riding a bigger board, this new 1500 has gotta be the most lift that’s found in such a small package. And you can’t beat the price point: This whole kit sells for only $1,200 retail. And it is going up in price this summer, so you might consider getting one of these today.
So what all comes in this kit? So the new Takuma 1500 packs down into this sweet suitcase that houses everything. When you open up the suitcase, you’ll see its separated into two dividers, with the front wing and rear wing being separated underneath here, to the mast and the fuselage. Takuma’s providing us with the user’s guide, which is awesome. Fuselage right here, and then your mast right here.
The mast that comes stock is the 75 cm (29.5″). A great size to start with. But then this case is built big enough accommodate a longer mast. So if you do decide to go to an 85 cm mast, you take this plug out of here, and boom – you can update yourself to an 85 pretty easily with a plate adapter.
Another thing that’s new for 2022 in this user’s guide you’ll also find that they offer this shim. And we’re pretty familiar with these plate shims from the Kujira’s in the past.
The unique thing about this one is that it’s designed to work with this new 1500 Kujira to provide even more lift. So, case in point, if you are riding a bigger board. Let’s say, 6′ or bigger, or you’re a heavier rider, and you just want a little more lift out of your foil – take this shim, and with the thickest point forward, lay it down on your board, and then attach your foil on top of it.
So essentially what that does is allow the board to ride with a little bit more of a nose up sensation. So if you’re on a big board that’s heavy in the nose, or you’re a heavier rider, or you just simply like more front foot pressure, ride this with the shim for more lift.
Take the shim off, and it will ride a little more nose down. This is how we’ve been primarily riding the Kujiras – with no shim, because you can see that the angle is actually built into the pocket of this fuselage right here, to allow for the board to ride a little bit more nose down.
Why is this shim part of the design? It’s because these wings are so lift efficient. This 1500 lifts between the 1600 and 1900 Pro Foil of yesteryear. And of course this summer we’ll be seeing one more size of this Kujira Helium – offered in a 1750, which will definitely being lifting like the Pro Foil 1900 from year’s past.
So this is just another offering in the series of Kujira wings, which means whale in Japanese. Named after these tubercles, which is going to be a very common feature among all of the foils Takuma offers for 2022 going forward. So this is the Kujira 1500 – the entire package for only $1,200. Get one before the prices go up!
