TJ and Sam get out on the water to put the two lightest and stiffest wings on the market to the test! The Starboard Nitro and the Duotone Unit D Lab, both these wings feature cutting edge materials. The Nitro featuring the Hookipa fabric while the Unit D Lab has the Aluula fabric. With both wings being so light, stiff and….. expensive, TJ and Sam hope to offer some clarity on which one is the right fit for you!

There is no wind out here at all.
Yeah, first take Aluula. It’s barely blowing out here, 5m. We got the Unit D Lab versus the Nitro. Putting it to the test
This is great conditions for early season. Here we go.
It’s a beautiful spring day and Sam and I just got off the water. 5m sessions with the new Duotone D Lab with the Auula material
The Nitro with the Hookipa also in a 5m dualing 5’s we put them to the test.
We wanted to do a little comparison of the cream of the crop, no expense spared wings here.
Yeah we really didn’t find any negatives, other than maybe…. the price. They’re not cheap.
But the stiffness, how light these things are is just unimaginable
you pick this thing up and its just featherlight
Sam, what do you think? Yeah.. I started out on the Nitro this thing is an absolute beast
I believe the Hookipa fabric is a touch bit heavier than the Aluula fabric, but you almost can’t tell at all.
Its blowing maybe 5-12 out here…..
getting up, I definitely felt like the low end was really there.
The canopy is a little bit less taught than the Duotone D Lab here.
This thing is a wave machine
Still have a blast in the most marginal conditions
Yeah, where as the D Lab is more the all around wing
This thing tacks like an absolute dream. It rolls wing tip to wing very well.
It has a little more dihedral and that really allows it to roll wing tip to wing tip through those tacks
Freeride machine
What about hard handles versus soft handles? that seems to be the conversation these days
That is an important distinguishing factor as well this one has got the soft handles
