DESCRIPTION

The Lava SUP paddle blade is designed to correct poor alignment often associated with poor technique, fatigue and injury. Black Project’s proprietary Scooped Dihedral shaping holds the water securely through the power phase of the stroke. Lateral blade movement is eliminated and the toe shaping provides an efficient and smooth release. The extension of the tapered scoop towards the toe ensures that the paddle remains stable and delivers power even if the blade is not fully immersed. The moderate 10° blade angle promotes a smooth paddle stroke and a little more comfort than the Hydro. For the Lava Black Project wanted a little more blade flex so the Power Ridge is more subtle than on the Hydro or Surge. The ridge increases paddle stiffness both vertically and laterally while also adding strength. Black Project smoothed out all edges to increase safety, increase strength and reduce board damage.

Black Project’s new no-twist adjustment system is designed to be simple, light and strong delivering a wide 50cm (19.5″) of adjustment from 170-220cm (67″-86.5″) and hence suitable for paddlers from 5ft to 6ft 6″ (152-198cm). By using a flat section on the inside of the shaft they were able to keep weight down, maintain strength and control stiffness more accurately than with heavier grooved systems.

The ergonomic 100% carbon handles come with a vivid red matte finish. The T handle is often preferred by paddlers in the surf and those with smaller hands. The flat front gives immediate feedback while surfing. The Palm handle is enjoyed by riders on flat water and those with bigger hands. The matte finish is ideal in hot or cold climates.

The LAVA all-round SUP paddle is for paddlers who need a paddle for all occasions. Throughout the design process all unnecessary weight was removed making this one of the lightest SUP paddles available. The Lava 3-piece weighs in at only 20.6 ounces (585 grams). The travel version collapses to a max length of 32 inches (81.3cm) this is both the lightest and smallest packing 3-piece travel paddle on the market (except the Ohana version which actually packs to 30 inches (76.2cm)). This reduced weight translates into an improved paddling experience while also being easier on your body so that you can enjoy more time on the water. Thanks to the design and optimized construction the Lava paddle is also one of the strongest SUP paddles you will find, Black Project paddles enjoys a near zero failure rate.
