WAVE / BUMP AND JUMP 5 BATTEN
Five batten wave sails are back thanks to lighter materials and smarter build concepts. The 2023 Eclipse sail line embodies this movement, and was resurrected at PWA super star Marcilio Browne’s urging. He wanted stability only a 5 batten sail can offer with its additional batten aloft. The Eclipse Pro and Eclipse X Pro deliver a huge wind range, from immense planing power in light winds – enhanced by their light build weight – to taming super strong storm conditions with the sail’s 5-batten stability.
The Eclipse Pro and Eclipse X are excellent options for those who sail gusty locations, and those who favor “power” wave sail. Heavier riders often benefit most from five battens in sails 5.0 and larger. Bump and jump riders typically enjoy the added speed a five batten sail’s stability delivers. The Eclipse X Pro has the same quality window film as the regular Eclipse Pro, equally UV protected and highly resistant to hard creases, with the addition of ultra strong Spectra yarns for added tear resistance. All other performance features of the Eclipse X Pro are identical to the Eclipse Pro.
X-PLY WINDOW STRENGTH
The Eclipse X Pro’s window features ultra strong Spectra yarns for added tear resistance in the rare occasion its outstanding base film is punctured. The X-Ply window does not enhance UV protection when compared to the Eclipse Pro.
FIVE BATTEN STABILITY
More than a decade ago, 5 batten wave sails virtually vanished as lighter 4-batten sails took over. Improved materials and build techniques make the 2023 Eclipse X Pro lightweight, with the enormous stability only a 5 batten wave sail can offer.
INTUITIVE TUNING
A high and a low boom attachment ring at the clew enhance the Eclipse X Pro’s already immense sail range. Opt for the high ring to tighten the sail’s leech for more power. The lower ring setting encourages leech twist to improve control.
