Cabrinha 2019 Moto Review

What Cabrinha Says (scroll down for our take)

Designed for riders who appreciate versatile, predictable kite performance, the Moto kite is a triple threat for any type of riding in a wide range of conditions. It excels in three of the most exciting disciplines the sport has to offer: Freeride, Freesurf, and Foilboarding.

The all-new Moto leads us into a new era of performance kitesurfing that smashes all conventional thinking. This versatile Freeride / Crossover kite is light to the touch and provides a precise and linear power delivery. The lighter weight and quick response is made possible with its 3-strut hybrid plan form.

The Moto performs its best in challenging wind conditions. Generous depower tames the gustiest winds and widens its wind range considerably. The Moto’s fast turning speed not only puts this kite into a performance category of its own, it enhances the kite’s amazing versatility.

What We Say

Bottom Line: New to the Cabrinha lineup, we’ve been more than a little impressed by how the Moto slots itself between the Cabrinha Switchblade and Drifter. The Moto’s mojo is versatility — not just bridging disciplines, but excelling in twin-tip, directional and foil riding. It has quickly emerged as a kite of choice for several Big Winds’ staffers.

What We Liked: The Moto has pop! It whips through the wind window with quick turning speeds, and performs well in the Gorge’s gusty winds. Fast enough to milk it through lulls, yet plenty of depower when winds get punchy. Compared to the Moto’s Cabrinha siblings, it jumps more vertically than the Switchblade, and goes upwind better than the Drifter. That said, it still provides some drift for wave riding and foiling. The XO colorway (a favorite among females) is offered 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 meter sizes.

What We Didn’t Like: The Moto has a bit of flutter in the wing tips when down looping through a turn, and has a slight tendency to back fly.

The Moto Best Suits: Just about anyone looking for versatility, or perhaps, continuity by allowing a one-kite-model quiver for all riding conditions.

Availability: 4-12 meter sizes available now. For exclusive package pricing, call 888 509 4210 or contact us

Control System Recommendation: 44 cm Fixed Trimlite with Quickloop for sizes 4-7 meter kites; 52 cm Fixed Trimlite with Quickloop for 8-13 meter kites.
